Agricultural industry
Chimitex S.p.A. has a wide range of raw materials for the production of fertlizers for the agricultural Industry. As required by the legislation, all the products marketed by us are formulated according to the National and European Standards.
Main Types of Fertilizers
The fertilizers that can be produced from our raw marierials can be grouped into three main families:
Nitrate based Fertilizers
The main group of fertilizers (so called nitrogen fertilizers) is produced from nitrogen and hydrogen,
usually coming from methane. The two raw materials are mixed at high pressure and temperature to obtain ammonia. From the oxidation of ammonia mineral fertilizers based on ammonium nitrate or urea are obtained. Urea when mixed with water and ammonium nitrate gives origin to a third type of nitrogen fertilizer.
Phosphorus based Fertilizers
The phosphorous fertilizers are synthesized from phosphate, that is treated with sulfuric acid to obtain phosphoric acid. The latter, mixed with ammonia, becomes mono- or diammonium phosphate; if furtherly concentrated it becomes triple superphosphate.
Potassium based Fertilizers
The third group of chemical fertilizers is obtained from potassium rock. Potassium is concentrated in a solution of potassium chloride, that can be transformed into potassium muriate, nitrate or sulfate, depending on the type of the desired fertilizer.
