Marine engines NOx emissions problem
Legislation regarding the dioxins emission abatement in the diesel engines (NOx-Nitrogen oxides emissions) is stricter and stricter, and involves also the marine sector, with national implementations at national level or directly linked to IMO regulation (International Maritime Organization).
For this purpose, the state-of-the-art vessels use the catalytic reduction process SCR, in a way similar to what happens for many engines in land vehicles (industrial, commercial and agricultural); this technology consists in the injection, in the post-combustion phase, of a urea based reagent, that is combined with the nitrogen oxides emissions, transforming them in water and nitrogen.

Chimitex has an extensive experience in this field, since it has been producing Bluechim© for many years, that is our additive AdBlue© for diesel engines with SCR system. From this experience we have developed Bluemarine 40 NOx, the specific additive for reduction of NOx emissions in marine engines: a 40% solution of high purity urea, suitable both for latest generation boats and for older engines that have been equipped with SCR system.
Following the ISO 18611 Indications and according to the other certifications (ISO 9001,14001, 22241, SQAS, VDA QMC) that we have obtained about our production of Adblue© additive, we have set up a section of our chemical plant specifically for the production and storage of our additive Bluemarine, equipped with special facilities for the continuous check of purity parameters of urea solution and implementing a total quality control system both during production and in storage and distribution.
Bluemarine 40 NOx can be used in all types of marine engines, in ferries, cargo ships, cruise liners, oil tankers, and we can make just-in-time deliveries thanks to our distribution system.
